From: Alan Sun - Update Date: Friday, June 19, 2009, 5:08 PM Dear friends, Quick Update: Led a family seminar Mark 4:1-20 Prayer for me and my travels. Since the semester ended we have started our summer studies and leadership cadre (group specially trained) for InterVarsity. I recently led a session on "family and leadership" at the leadership cadre which was challenging but at the same time refreshing. I was able to speak on how my family has formed who I am and also the ways that we are all affected by family. Father's Day is this Sunday and having lost my Father since age 16 I know that family and the experiences within families are important. One thing I would like to share from that is that our student leaders walked away with an awareness of how God can move in family circumstances. I hope that God is growing you over this summer period in faith, hope and love. I have been getting into plants recently because I see some type of spiritual tie with a plant growing and the nurturing of the Holy Spirit in our lives. I have not started gardening...yet...but it is powerful to see God grow something when humanity plants it. If you have read Mark 4:1-20 you can understand that Jesus engages humanity and is the source of transformation to those that have good soil. This summer for me is about cultivating more good soil as I trust in fundraising, grow as a theology student, and participate with my students in service. I am preparing my heart for July as I will be traveling most of the month for work, please keep me in your prayers because some days this ministry can be tiring physically, spiritually and emotionally. However I see the transformative work of Christ in my students and I am blessed. Thanks for partnering with me and praying for me. -Alan |
